It’s weird, I actually wrote this Thanksgiving Post at the end of October, but I thought that I might scare a few of you off with my cheesiness so I thought that I would wait until Thanksgiving week!
As most of you know, I am also a part-time school teacher during the work week. I have always loved my job as a teacher, but this school year has been difficult for many reasons. As we approach Thanksgiving and I reflect on what I am thankful for (besides the obvious, my husband, children, friends)I want you all to know that I am so THANKFUL for all of your support as I have transitioned into this new phase of my life as owner and instructor at No Excuses Fitness.
I am going to lay it all out there for you…I had no idea what I was getting myself into and ALL of you have made this transition a WONDERFUL experience. You may not see it the same way, but I TRULY feel that I am developing friendships with you! I am thankful for that. I have always been that person that had a few close friends and never let anyone else in, but this transition has been so good for me. I have been able to be the softer/kinder Laura (although I guess as a bootcamp teacher I am supposed to be tough and hardcore) that I want and like to be instead of the tough girl trying to fight the world. Thank you!!
I have had a rough go the past few years, also filled with some wonderful blessings, but a rough few years as I am sure some of you have had throughout your life. This year continues to be difficult at times, but as we all push through those obstacles I am thankful I am doing it with all of you. When I go through “rough” times, I have found that I am “queen” of making my mind stay busy and No Excuses has been that for me. Although I knew that No Excuses would be something to keep my mind busy, I had no idea that I would like it as much as I do. I want to THANK all of you for that! THANK YOU for coming each day!! I also want to thank my previous (before No Excuses) friends that jumped on my bandwagon and came to class support me….THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
So before this gets too cheesy, I want you to know that you have all impacted my life in a positive way. If you stopped me I could name at least one and maybe five things each of you have done for me over the past few months that I am sure you had no idea had such an affect on me. It might have been something you said to me in passing, or a smile of reassurance you gave me during a workout, or a compliment at the end of a workout, or the huffing you did in the workout to let me know that I was pushing you hard enough, or the referral of someone new, or the email you sent to let me know you would or wouldn’t be there, or the advice you offered to help the class improve, or the countless other things you have done. THANK YOU!!
CLASSES THIS WEEK:
Monday- 5:15 am, 9:10 am
Tuesday- 5:15 am, 4:15 pm, 7:00 pm
Wednesday- 5:15 am
Thursday, THANKSGIVING—7:30 am (ONE CLASS)
Friday—5:15 am, 9:10 am (need 4 people to sign up for these classes to run that day…sign up on the board)
ABOUT THIS SCHEDULE……
Yes, I know most of you have days off, kids are off, pies to bake, errands to run, shopping to do, and everything else that goes with that, BUT don’t forget to put yourself on the list too. You get to have an hour for you! The holidays are tough, but the stress relief you will feel after getting the workout in will definitely out weigh the guilt of not doing the workout over the holidays.
BUT….you just can’t make it in….SO…..here’s a list of…..
THINGS TO DO IF YOU CAN’T GET INTO NO EXCUSES:
- Do the ballet legs we do against the wall (30 seconds up/down, 15 seconds hold, 15 seconds pulse, 30 secs. Up/down)
- Repeat doing it with your arms (up and down, hold, pulse REPEAT)
- Hold in Plank (have a contest with your kids….repeat 5 times —try to do it for a minute each time with a 15 second break)
- Have a Burpee off….who can do the most in 30 seconds?
- Pushup Challenge…how many in 30 seconds? (my kids love this one)
- Pilates Abs (Keep the core tight and reach those hands to the toes to feel the stretch….concentrate on only using that core!)
- Go for a walk (try running for 20 seconds/walk 10 seconds 8 times then repeat after you walk for five minutes…a little Tabata style walking and running)-the temperature should be good!
All of these can be combined for one large workout or you can do them whenever you can squeeze it in….GET AT LEAST TWO OF THEM DONE EACH DAY!!
