What a beautiful weekend to celebrate all of those that have served our country and continue to serve our country!
Sorry for the late post…I really have no excuse….just not motivated this week to write about something and also kind of afraid I might spill all the “inappropriateness” running crazy in my mind! I swear, it has taken me a long time to figure this out and I am still shocked at times, but there are some CRAZY people out there and those CRAZY people do CRAZY things! That being said, I am trying to approach life with a new attitude…..and think the following quotes will help me throughout the process. I am not sure if some will help you or not, but they sure help me find some perspective…..this will be the extent of “UNLOADING” this month! LOL!!
CLASS: I can’t believe it….there are only 3 weeks left in the session! Remember to bring water and a towel to class, it’s getting HOT in the gym! We are having class TOMORROW, TUESDAY at 5:15 am! My 2 Days/Week Crew know that you can always switch up your days, you don’t have to stay the same…just in case you wanted to come tomorrow or not!
It sounds like we are going to go at 5:30 (if 5:30 is too late for some of you, let me know and we will stay at 5:15, 15 minutes doesn’t make that big of a difference when it comes to sleep, but it does when husbands or you need to get to work)during the summer ….we will do 3 days a week! I think there will be a few weeks I may have to switch up the days, but we are sticking close to home this summer, no big vacations planned, just a few baseball tourneys!!
I have only heard from 2 or 3 of you for an interest in an 8:30 time slot, but if that changes or you know of a few others we can try and make something work!! I would also be open to coming to your house for a small group if a different time would be better!! It is always more fun and cheaper if we get at least 3 or 4 people for something like that, but I am open to trying new things!!
Some Pictures and Tidbits from the past few weeks:
1-Last weekend I made a filet, sweet potato, and veggies for dinner….making it again tonight!! If you like a good filet, I have been buying the Costco Filet Medallions and following the Ruth Chris (I have improvised) recipe. Sooooo GOOD!! Preheat oven to 350. Need 1 teaspoon salt and 1 teaspoon pepper mixed in bowl. In skillet heat @ tbsps. olive oil. Cover all sides of steak with salt and pepper mixture. Place in hot skillet. Sear each side of steak. Put one tablespoon butter on top of each steak (less if you want to, but most of it melts off anyway….at least that’s my rationalization). Place entire skillet (if you have cast iron skillet, that’s the best, but I don’t) in the oven for no more than 15 minutes. I like my steaks medium so they are good to go after they rest for a few minutes on the plate.
2- I found a new NON- ALCOHOLIC drink!! I haven’t been a huge fan of the Skinny Girl wine, but I do like this drink and it doesn’t have the PHENYLALANINE that so many of the low calorie drinks have in them. NO ASPARTAME either. I’m sure there are a million other things wrong with it because it doesn’t come straight from an organic fruit farm, but I thought this tasted good and wasn’t as bad as some other choices!!
3- My new FAVORITE ALCOHOL DRINK!!! DON’T read the calorie count…I know there are a lot of them. I know I can drink flavored vodka with some club soda, but I think that tastes like crap. If I am going to have any alcohol I’m going for the TASTE not the BUZZ! I like a good beer…Canoe Paddler is my favorite and I am really like these….and they come in various flavors.
4- www.skinnytaste.com is an awesome website. I have talked about it before and shared some recipes, but I made a couple this weekend and I think they were so great!! I used pound cake instead of angel food cake that I bought from Costco, it comes in a 3 pack and is out of this world yummy buttery!! I also made a fruit dip that had lite cool whip, a little brown sugar, light cream cheese, and vanilla greek yogurt!
5- IF you get GROSSED out by FEET….stop reading!! I got the worst sliver at 1:00 am Sunday morning as I was taking Becca to the ER for a steroid….she couldn’t breathe again!! The piece of mulch literally broke off in my foot and you could only see the head of the splinter. See below…..
Soaking Bread in Milk….THAT DIDN’T WORK!!
AND THEN I FINALLY TRIED…..BACON……..
IT WORKED!!! I was able to get the splinter out!! The internet said Bacon and then a friend said bacon so I tried it….YEAH!!!
6- Last, but not least, my little “Scooter Stud” wiped out bad today on a hill!! Jim just said, “I really think she should be wearing a helmet.” CRASH!!! Her leg is banged up too, but she is one tough cookie!!
See you soon!!
