5 Days In….

Well, it is 5 days into 2016…..and where are you with your New Year’s Resolutions?  I’ll be honest, I’m not a big “resolution” person.  I’m not sure if it’s because I know I won’t be able to reach a long term goal or I’m just straight up anti-New Year’s Resolutions.  Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about self-improvement,  I am always trying to work on “Me” (I’ve got a lot to work on)!

I have monthly goals, weekly goals, daily goals, hourly goals, and sometimes even minute by minute goals (depending on my mood and my children’s moods).  I set a personal goal (we refer to those as social goals in the teaching world), to have patience, not yell at my kids that day, bite my tongue at a basketball game, play nice with others, etc .  I set health/fitness/diet goals all the time…this goal is constantly in motion!  It could be more carbs, less carbs, more veggies, more protein, less sugar…it never ends!!   I set a professional goal, again trying to keep up with the newest teaching trend.

  • I’m always saying:
    • I should do more of that.
    • I shouldn’t do that anymore.
    • I should be more like that.
    • I shouldn’t care about that.
    • I want more of that in my life.
    • I need to less of that.
    • I need to organize that.
    • I need to let that go.

…..am I the only one???? Please tell me I’m not the only one!!!

—-some days are better than others and hopefully we learn from the day before!

Resolutions are so hard for people to keep because they are usually LARGE and LONG TERM.  As a special education teacher, the resolution idea just doesn’t fit.  I teach my students to set goals that are SMART. Smart goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. Resolutions for the NEW YEAR, 2016, are so abstract (I’m so literal) and BIG and out there!  If you want to set a goal for yourself, do so, but make sure it is something that you want to do for you, not for anyone else!  Reward yourself for your accomplishments and then set another goal.  Enough about that….

Some information about the weigh-in—You do NOT need to weigh in this week in order to get 10% off!  Why am I doing this…why am I not requiring you to check in to get your 10% off?  Because I love you all (and I am guilty of enjoying all those treats)!  No, really, it’s because I believe that there should be balance….if you didn’t maintain, oh well, now it’s time to re-focus and get back at it.  If you did maintain and didn’t gain more than 2 pounds, YOU ROCK!! If you think you lost 2-3% of your body weight then you can weigh in and earn your 20-30% off next session’s fee that starts February 2nd- March 22nd, right to Spring Break.  This current session is over January 29th, 2016.

I started this workout over break and have been incorporating it into our workouts.  I like the workouts, but I have definitely had to add some more cardio to make sure you guys get your sweat on.  I have done some of the workouts in addition to doing a run or even done a second video over break.  I am SURE that the workouts are great done on their own for some people, but you guys are in AMAZING shape and I have to give you something more difficult, a lot sweatier, and way more intense!!

When I wake up in the middle of the night and stare at the alarm clock and wish that I had a few more hours of sleep I remind myself that these guys are the reason I workout…. IMG_8710
